About Good Counsel

Match the case to the specialist. The rest follows.

Most legal intake happens through a contact form. You write six words, a stranger calls, and the conversation starts over. That works for nobody.

Good Counsel lets you describe what’s going on in your own words — the way you would tell a friend — and takes it from there. We don’t just match by practice area; we match by the specific kind of case you have. Bicycle accidents, not just personal injury. High-asset divorce, not just family law. DUI defense, not just criminal.

Then we hand-pick the firm on our bench whose case history actually fits your situation, and introduce you so you’re never getting a cold call from a stranger.

We are not a law firm. We don’t practice, don’t take fees from clients, and don’t charge for an intake. We exist to make the first conversation useful — to you and to the specialist who picks up your case.

What guides the work

Four simple commitments.

Specialty over directory

We don’t match by practice area alone. We match by sub-specialty — the specific kind of case — to the firm whose actual case history fits.

Warm introduction, never a cold call

The firm we pick for your case is told about you, and you’re told about them. The first conversation is between two parties who already know who the other is.

Privacy by default

What you share is used to match you to a specialist and nothing else. No marketing lists, no data resale, no shopping your case around to multiple firms.

Free for clients, impartial in our matching

Using Good Counsel costs you nothing. We’re an independent third-party focused on matching you to the right firm — not on which one bid hardest for the slot.

How matching works

Sub-specialty, not just practice area.

Every conversation is read against the practice areas we cover — and then deeper, into the sub-specialty inside that practice area. A car accident isn’t the same case as a commercial-trucking accident. A high-asset divorce isn’t the same case as an uncontested one. DUI defense isn’t the same case as a white-collar charge. We classify accordingly.

Then we look at the firms on our curated bench — vetted by us based on their actual case history and credentials — and pick the one whose specialty fits your situation in the state where the case lives. If we don’t have a strong fit on the bench, we tell you so rather than route you to a firm that’s a stretch.

We don’t sell the same conversation to multiple firms. We don’t resell it later. The firm we pick receives a full transcript, your contact, the sub-specialty classification, and anything you shared — nothing more, nothing less.

Where we work

Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.

Three states, same standard. Good Counsel is headquartered in Utah and built for the Intermountain West. If your situation is outside those three jurisdictions, we’ll say so up front rather than waste your time.
