Attorney terms of service.
Eligibility
To subscribe to Good Counsel you must be an attorney in good standing with an active license in at least one of Utah, Idaho, or Wyoming. You agree to notify us promptly if your license status changes in any jurisdiction where you receive matched leads.
Jurisdiction of practice
You agree to accept matched leads only for cases located in states where you’re currently admitted to practice. Good Counsel routes leads based on the bar admissions you verify with us, but ultimate responsibility for jurisdictional compliance rests with you.
Professional liability insurance
You represent and warrant that you maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance covering your practice in the states listed in your Good Counsel profile, for the full duration of your subscription.
Professional conduct
You agree to communicate with matched leads in a timely, professional manner consistent with the rules of professional conduct of every jurisdiction in which you practice. Misconduct, disciplinary action, or repeat failure to respond to matched leads may result in suspension or termination of your account.
Fees and billing
Good Counsel is a pay-per-lead service. You set a monthly cap on what you are willing to spend and are charged for each lead you claim. Detailed fee amounts appear on the billing page and in your Stripe receipts. The final fee structure is part of the draft under legal review.
No referral-fee arrangement
Good Counsel is a lead-matching service, not a law firm, and does not share in fees earned by subscribing attorneys. The amounts you pay Good Counsel are flat per-lead fees for access to matched intake information and do not constitute a referral fee under any applicable rule of professional conduct.
SMS notifications program
Good Counsel offers an optional transactional SMS program (“Good Counsel Lead Alerts”) that texts subscribing attorneys when a new matched lead is waiting. Participation is voluntary and is not a condition of any purchase or subscription.
How to opt in. Sign in to your attorney account at goodcounselnow.com/account, enter your mobile number, check the SMS-alerts box, and click Save. By doing so you consent to receive transactional SMS from Good Counsel at the number you provided.
Program description and frequency.Messages are event-driven and sent only when a lead matches your practice areas, jurisdictions, and coverage settings. Typical frequency is approximately 0–5 messages per week per attorney, depending on lead volume in your selected practice areas and regions. Messages identify the practice area, state, and client first name; full lead detail is available after you sign in.
Message & data rates. Message and data rates may apply, charged by your wireless carrier. Good Counsel does not charge a per-message fee for SMS notifications.
How to opt out. Reply STOP to any message at any time to unsubscribe, or toggle SMS off on your account page and click Save. After you opt out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message and no further texts unless you opt back in.
Help. Reply HELP to any message for support information, or email hello@goodcounselnow.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported U.S. carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Boost, MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile, and Cricket. Service may not be available on all carriers.
Privacy. Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in status collected for this program are used solely to deliver transactional lead-alert messages. They are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. See our privacy policy for details.
